White Asbestos, am I going to die?

I know there’s all this talk about asbestos and it killing people. I’m possibly doing the most stupid thing ever but I’ve come across some Chrysotile (white asbestos) thread and I’ve made a string bracelet out of it, I’m using it for random stuff I’d use normal string for and there’s dust coming off of it all the while. I don’t really mind though, I know I probably will die a lot younger than average as I’m 15 now but does anyone know how long I could live for? like what’s the worst that could happen or the the longest I might live to? Before you ask, Yup I am being serious.

Well if it does, what it will do is cause cancer. So … I’d get rid of it ASAP if I were you. And why do you believe your going to die young? what a horrible thing to say. But…yea, get rid of it. Go to a doctor and tell them what has been happening. Maybe there is some preventative measure they can take.

I hate to break this to you, but your are going to be fine! Asbestos is only harmful when it is breathed in in a fine powder form.

    You are going to die.

But on average, it will be at least another 50 years from now. Asbestos can cause serious lung damage, but it takes time and repeated exposure, and some people just aren’t affected much at all. I know of a guy who worked with the stuff for years, and has never shown any ill effects. He’s in his middle or late 70’s now.

But you aren’t helping things by deliberately working with the stuff, though. So get rid of your bracelet and whatever random stuff you’re talking about, vacuum the areas where you’ve worked thoroughly, and cut it out.

  4. dont think you will die, dont worry about it, asbestos with PROLONGED EXPOSURE will, but for that, just throw it away for info on legal advice check the link on it for info on asbestos
