Yes, you should be concerned. Yes, there could be particulates which are dispersed when the furnace is not.

I would be very concerned. I don’t think using the heater will make the problem any worse. These fumes and particles that are health concerns are probably already in the air. I have never lived in California, but knowing their strict emission guidelines for cars, I would be surprised that it is legal in that state to rent someone an apartment with asbestos and chemical problems.

I guess that would depend on if you care about remaining healthy and living a full life.

hmm i think that you can have asbestos fixed.. but definitely don’t live in it with asbestos! it can cause cancer and it’s definitely not worth it! goodluck finding an apartment =]♥
