Should I be concerned about incidental asbestos dust exposure I had 20 years ago?

Asbestos
I worked for a construction firm in the summer breaks while in college from 1985-1989 and had exposure to asbestos dust. I am healthy today and have no issues. Should I be concerned anyway?

You should talk to your doctor about it. It might be a good idea for you to have periodic chest x-rays just as a precaution. I don’t think you should get overly concerned at this point.

effects of asbestos can be seen very fast, but since its been 20 years and u seem healthy…so there should be no worries
cheking ur lung capacity and a test with the doctors can help u to confirm ur fears…besides its better to prevent than to cure..

If you have no lung/breathing issues now (20 years later), you have nothing to worry about. Problems usually occur in 15 years from the date of exposure, so you are in the clear. Signs to look for are unusual “smokers” cough, asmatic breathing when going up stairs or light exercise, and excessive phlem buildup.
