Street Fighter: The Later Years

As long as it's being removed by a licensed contractor who's following the rules, no, it's quite safe.

They use equipment that creates negative pressure to keep all of the dust inside the area they are working in. They also use filters to keep the dust manageable. All of the material they collect is wrapped and removed.

Don't worry about it.

Asbestos is actually only harmful if you breath the dust, have other lung conditions (you smoke), and are exposed for a long period of time...

If the houses are attached, and they are removing asbestos that was wrapped around pipes.. it is likely your house also has this.....if it is loose, that could be a bigger problem for you....

If they are removing siding or floor tile, there really is no danger to you....

The Mexican Flu - Swine Flu

There are strict safety rules in taking Asbestos from houses. The Asbestos will be contained in air tight bags and containers, and there should be no danger to you. I would keep all my windows closed, while they are removing the debre. There should also be a City Inspector on site, while removing this stuff. The City will make sure all precautions are given. Don't worry, be happy !

It is unlikely that you will EVER get cancer from asbestos.
You would have to be exposed to it in very large dosage.
The myth was created by an aluminum siding companies who wanted people to buy their product.
The environmentalist keep feeding the myth, and government is to lazy to dispelled the myth.
But believe what you will, it wouldn't be the first time and it won't be the last time people were fooled.
