I did it in my kitchen. Well, not me personally. Professional installers did it. They just laid down a liner type thing and put the laminate right on top. That was three years ago and I haven’t had any trouble with it at all.

take a var thane and coat the floor to seal it. Then I would put the foam and then the laminated floor. More then likely the tile has asbestos in it, because back then they made tile that had asbestos.

I think you can. We covered some 9″tile with carpeting a while ago, and I help my son put a new floor over old tile… it was wood laminate (the new stuff)…

The only thing I would worry about is water if your basement leaks. That’s a whole different question tho.

Assuming this is VCT or vinyl tile.You will be perfectly fine in doing so.
Laying this over ceramic tile would not be a good idea.
